URGENT: Windows 11 25H2 Update May Affect HikCentral Professional Compatibility (With Solutions)

Important Notice for HikCentral Professional (HCP) Users

Microsoft has released the Windows 11 25H2 update. Hikvision has identified a compatibility issue that may affect certain versions of HikCentral Professional (HCP) after upgrading the Windows operating system and restarting the server.

What is the Issue?

Windows 11 25H2 has removed the WMIC (Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line) component.

HikCentral Professional versions earlier than 2.6.3 rely on WMIC to retrieve server hardware information. As a result, these versions may not function properly after the server is upgraded to Windows 11 25H2 and restarted.

Affected HCP Versions

HCP versions earlier than 2.6.3

If your HCP version is earlier than 2.6.3, do not upgrade the server to Windows 11 25H2 until compatibility has been confirmed.

Before Upgrading to Windows 11 25H2

If you are planning to upgrade your HCP server to Windows 11 25H2:

1. Check your current HCP version.
2. If your HCP version is earlier than 2.6.3, do not proceed with the Windows 11 25H2 upgrade.

If You Have Already Upgraded to Windows 11 25H2

If you have already upgraded your server to Windows 11 25H2 and restarted the system, but HikCentral Professional is no longer functioning properly, refer to the solutions below. Do remember you will need to follow the steps on the HikCentral Professional Software server PC, NOT the client PC.

Solutions on the HCP compatibility issue (updated on 17 Sep 2026): Install WMIC

• Download WMIC
  • Download the WMIC installation package from the following link: https://download.microsoft.com/download/1f01d660-d821-49b3-b247-7bc2fe9f4561/wmic_dlc.zip
• Extract the ZIP file
  • Extract wmic_dlc.zip to a folder on your computer.
• Open Terminal in the extracted folder
  • Open the extracted WMIC folder.Right-click on an empty area inside the folder and select Open in Terminal. A Terminal window will open with the extracted WMIC folder as the current location.
• Allow the installation script to run
  • In the Terminal window, run: Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process If prompted to confirm the change, type Y and press Enter. This change applies only to the current Terminal session.
• Run the installation script
  • Run:.\install.ps1
• Confirm the installation
  • Wait until the following message is displayed:“WMIC has been installed successfully.”WMIC is now installed.
• Reboot the HCP Service
  • Reboot the service for of the HikCentral Professional Server. All set now!
